ADVISORY: SENATOR MAYER AND CURIOUS GEORGE KICK-OFF SUMMER READING PROGRAM.

SENATOR SHELLEY MAYER TO KICK-OFF SUMMER READING PROGRAM WITH CURIOUS GEORGE LIVE AND IN PERSON AT THE KATONAH VILLAGE LIBRARY.

BEDFORD, NY -- On Wednesday, July 17th, State Senator Shelley B. Mayer will kick-off her Summer Reading Program at the Katonah Village Library with beloved children’s character Curious George. Senator Mayer will encourage young students and parents to read throughout the summer months as a way to encourage a love of reading and combat the “summer slide”--reading ability and other academic skills decline in children who don’t spend time reading over the summer months. Research shows that just 20 minutes of reading per day can combat the effects of the summer slide. Senator Mayer will read Curious George books to the children in attendance, and the audience will have an opportunity to interact and take photos with Curious George. The event is sponsored by Senator Mayer and PBS.
