FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: YONKERS FIRE DEPARTMENT SELECTED BY Westchester Regional EMS Council AS 2018 EMS AGENCY OF THE YEAR.

 

YONKERS, NY – May 9, 2019 –Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano today announced that Westchester Regional EMS Council will honor the City of Yonkers Fire Department as “EMS Agency of the Year” during its 46^TH Annual EMS Awards. The EMS Agency of the Year Award recognizes an agency which strives for consistency in EMS excellence and exhibits exemplary performance when providing prehospital emergency medical care. 

 

“It is an honor to see our Fire Department receive this award from the Westchester Regional EMS Council and be recognized along with so many other surrounding communities within Westchester County,” said Mayor Mike Spano.  “The EMS Agency of the Year Award is a testament to the hard work of our brave and skilled Yonkers Fire Department. More importantly, it validates the continued support the city provides in improving our fire department, including ongoing training that benefits our firefighters and the residents of Yonkers.”

 

“It is a testament to the tremendous work our Firefighters and Fire Officers perform day in and day out, answering the call for those citizens in need. Our members our highly trained and maintain very high standards when delivering medical care to the citizenry of Yonkers. I congratulate each and every member on their commitment to public safety,” said Yonkers Fire Commissioner Robert Sweeney.

 

The Regional EMS Council and its program agency, the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services, are responsible for overseeing and coordinating EMS operations as per New York State Public Health Law in the County of Westchester.

 

Westchester Regional EMS Council will present the Yonkers Fire Department with the honor at a ceremony on May 23, 2019.
