Yonkers Insider: City of Yonkers: Keeping Our Schools Safe.

As families prepare for the end of the school year, the City of Yonkers

continually is working with Yonkers Public Schools and private schools to further improve safety measures in the event of an incident.

Police Commissioner Chris Sapienza and members of the Yonkers PD have been coordinating large-scale drills including Empress EMS and Yonkers FD, and other emergency service agencies from neighboring cities to keep Yonkers children safe.

Yonkers Insider: Statement from Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano.

Dear friend,

This week, the City of Yonkers 2022-2023 Budget was adopted with a 6-1 bipartisan vote by the Yonkers City Council. The Adopted Budget increases funding for public safety and quality of life services including additional police officers, firefighters, parks maintenance staff and continues to provide its largest contribution to Yonkers Public Schools and is below the state-mandated property tax cap.

Thanks to the cooperative work with our City Council, we are improving quality services for our residents, relieving our taxpayers as best as we can, and making vital investments in education so we can keep moving Yonkers forward.

Sincerely,

MIKE SPANO

Mayor

STATEMENT ON 5/25: "I am shocked by the unspeakable tragedy that took place in Ulvade, Texas. The loss of a child is a burden that I can't fathom. These senseless and heinous acts of violence have no place in our nation. Lives being lost because of blind hatred and pure evil must end.
