...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
THURSDAY AFTERNOON...

The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of southern Connecticut, northeast
New Jersey and southeast New York, including the following areas,
in southern Connecticut, Northern Fairfield, Northern Middlesex,
Northern New Haven, Northern New London, Southern Fairfield,
Southern Middlesex, Southern New Haven and Southern New London. In
northeast New Jersey, Eastern Bergen, Eastern Essex, Eastern
Passaic, Eastern Union, Hudson, Western Bergen, Western Essex,
Western Passaic and Western Union. In southeast New York, Bronx,
Kings (Brooklyn), New York (Manhattan), Northeast Suffolk,
Northern Nassau, Northern Queens, Northern Westchester, Northwest
Suffolk, Orange, Putnam, Richmond (Staten Island), Rockland,
Southeast Suffolk, Southern Nassau, Southern Queens, Southern
Westchester and Southwest Suffolk.

* From Wednesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon.

* The remnants of Ida will pass near the region Wednesday night
through Thursday. Deep tropical moisture will interact with a
nearly stationary frontal boundary across the Middle Atlantic and
Northeast to produce heavy rainfall late Wednesday through
Thursday morning. The rainfall should begin to taper off Thursday
afternoon. A widespread 3 to 5 inches of rain is forecast with
locally higher amounts possible. This rainfall combined with wet
antecedent conditions may lead to flash flooding. Flooding of fast
responding rivers and streams is possible, and flooding of main
stem rivers cannot be ruled out.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

LIMITS: Bronx River Parkway (Exit 11 W) exit ramp.

WHAT: Bridge rehabilitation project.

IMPACTS: There will be the intermittent (5 minute) closures of the northbound & southbound Bronx River Pkwy exit ramp.

• Exit 11 W - Bronx River Pkwy ramp to the westbound Cross County Pkwy intermittent (5 minute) closures.

WHEN: Tuesday, August 31, 2021 between the hours of 7:00 AM and 12:00 PM. Wednesday, September 1, and Thursday, September 2, 2021 between the hours of 9:30 AM and 12:00 PM

LIMITS: At River Road (bridge).

WHAT: Roadway/bridge resurfacing project.

IMPACTS: The BRP northbound & southbound single lanes will be closed to motorists at the above location (weather permitting).

WHEN: Tuesday, August 31, thru Friday, September 3, 2021 between the hours of 9:30 am and 3:30 pm (weather permitting).

Dear Friend,

In less than two weeks, Yonkers will host Remembrance Ceremonies in honor of the precious lives lost due to the tragedy that occurred on September 11, 2001, and those lives lost due to the long-term effects of that day.

This year will mark the 20th anniversary of the terrible event that shocked our nation to its core. 

I kindly invite you to join us in remembrance on Saturday, September 11, 2021.

The first ceremony will be held at the 9/11 Memorial at Water Grant Street on the Yonkers Waterfront, starting at 8:30 am. 

The second ceremony will be held at Conor Park on McLean Avenue and Central Park Avenue starting at 7:30 pm.

I hope to see you there as Yonkers remembers our own.

There are an estimated 14,000 lead pipes that supply drinking water to people’s homes in the city of Albany. Last week, workers tore one of them out and replaced it with a safe, lead-free version of a service line that connects the water main to the home. (Albany Times Union)

The state Department of Environmental Conservation  announced the deployment of the vessel "Big Time" on the Fire Island Reef as part of the ongoing efforts to expand New York's network of artificial reefs. This sustained effort is developing a stronger, more diverse marine ecosystem and providing shelter for fish and other marine life off New York's shores. (DEC Press Room)

What a busy weekend it has been but a great weekend it was. This past weekend I attended many different events, door knocked to meet many of the great residents from District 15, and dropped off lawn signs. This weekend I attended the Yonkers Butterfly Release Event, Yonkers Hispanic Cultural Foundation, INC. concert thanking essential workers, Untermyer Performing Arts Council World Fest 2021, St Michael’s Ukrainian Church Independence Day Celebration, Westchester/Putnam Central Labor Body AFL-CIO picnic with my fellow union and labor members, and the Uplife Back To School Drive with 914United. I love being out in the community and showing support along with hearing many of the residents concerns. When I am elected as the next Westchester County Legislator for District 15 Yonkers & Bronxville on November 2nd I will continue to do the same and more in the community. The residents deserve a leader and elected official who they can engage with and see them involved in the community!

Registration for our Fall into Recreation outdoor Community Recreation begins August 30, 2021 at 8 PM. We have a wide variety of programs for all ages, which include: Guitar for all levels! Pre-K Ballet Pre-K Jazz Youth Hip Hop/Street Jazz Youth and Adult Tennis Theatre Classes Voice Classes Karate Arts and Crafts Youth Basketball Youth and Adult Zumba Various Adult exercise classes   Register early for youth classes at our various park locations, as space is limited! Fresh Air and outdoor space! Classes begin mid September and run until November.
