Yonkers Police Department Rolls Out New “YPD Alerts”
Public Notification System.

The new platform run by RAVE Mobile Safety (a Motorola Solutions Company) replaces former program; adds enhanced features.

 

Yonkers, NY- In an ongoing effort to increase public safety and establish open lines of communication with members of the community, the Yonkers Police Department is announcing an upgraded alert system- YPD Alerts, serviced by RAVE Mobile Safety.

 

Beginning October 17, 2024, YPD Alerts subscribers will get notifications on critical incidents, public safety emergencies, news releases, community events, extreme weather, traffic alerts, road closures, and much more. Members of the community can visit www.yonkersny.gov/ypd for sign-up info. Registration takes less than two minutes and allows customization on preferred methods of contact.

I am proud that our Police Department will once again lead the charge when it comes to state-of-the-art communications technology. The Yonkers Police Department has been utilizing mass public notification systems for several years, beginning with the Tip411 community alert program. The Department switched to Command Central Notify by Motorola Solutions, Inc in 2021. Command Central Notify will be formally replaced by RAVE Mobile Safety.

 

Members of our community who have previously registered in our current program will no longer be receiving alerts after October 17. Registration in the new platform for YPD Alerts is required to continue receiving alerts after that date.
