Assemblyman Sayegh 9/11 Notice Act legislation passed unanimously by the State Senate and Assembly is now effective law.
Nearly 22 years following the tragic events of the 9/11 tragedy, a critical need for awareness regarding the benefits and eligibility for the federal World Trade Center Health Program and the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund prompted decisive action. The 9/11 Notice Act mandates that previously overlooked victims, including downtown office workers, doormen, construction workers, students, teachers, retail workers, and delivery people, be informed of their eligibility status by their past and present employers. No individual should endure 9/11-related illnesses burdened by medical expenses when free federal resources stand available to assist.
