Dear Neighbors,
It's been called the unofficial kickoff to summer. But, Memorial Day Weekend is so much more than that. As many of us gather together for family fun or barbecues, let us reflect on how blessed we truly are.
Take time out this weekend to thank a veteran and say a prayer for those who lost their lives in the pursuit and defense of our freedom. The City of Yonkers played an instrumental role in the war effort during World War II. Our efforts have earned us the prestigious designation of being named an American World War II Heritage City, the only City in New York State with such a distinction.
If you have a flag for your home, display it with patriotic pride, this weekend and always. I encourage you to join us Monday morning inside the Ceremonial Courtroom at City Hall on the Fourth Floor at 9 a.m. for our annual Memorial Day Ceremony.
