Yonkers Insider: Statement from New York State Assemblyman Nader Sayegh 90th District.

This week in Albany, I introduced a resolution proclaiming June 21, 2024 as Yoga Day in New York State. A first ever Yoga Reception was held celebrating the practice of yoga and its significant impact on our well-being. Special thanks to Senator Kevin Thomas for sponsoring my yoga resolution in the Senate. We were joined by Assemblywoman Jennifer Rajkumar, and representing the Consulate General of India in New York, the Hon. Shruit Pandey. Additionally, I supported several resolutions each holding significant importance for New York State. May 5-11, 2024, is recognized as Correctional Officers and Employees Week. Similarly, May 18, 2024, has been designated as Armed Forces Day, paying tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of our state's armed forces. Resolution 2174 commemorates the Second Anniversary of the tragic mass shooting at Tops Friendly Markets in Buffalo, New York, and commemorates the memory of the victims and the resilience of the survivors. Lastly, May 12-18, 2024, recognizes Family Physician Week and acknowledges the vital role that family physicians play in delivering quality healthcare across our state. Moreover, I attended the New York State Laborers Political Action Committee Reception and the Charter School of Educational ExcellenceGala, honoring the achievements of Betsy May Stern, Dr. Joseph Durney, and Westchester County Legislator Shanae Williams. Congratulations to the Yonkers Council of PTA (YCPTA) on their Annual Student Awards Ceremony honoring Yonkers High School students from all Yonkers High School! I again call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza! I urge all involved parties to engage in negotiations for a lasting peace agreement, which includes the release of all hostages and prisoners. Additionally, it is imperative that the international community promptly addresses the hunger and starvation affecting the population in Gaza. From the start of this conflict, over 35,000 have died.
