A very entertaining tournament personlified by committed open play by all sides saw the hosts sweep the NYPD and Morris Rugby at Tibbets Brook Park on April 13. The games were played in 20 minute halves as to guarantee all Men's teams get 80 minutes of match time. And in another superb encounter, the Lansdowne Old Boys edged the Morris Old Boys by 36-10. Known for their massive bravery and commitment, New York's Finest were typically resolute in defence. However, Lansdowne had just a wee bit too much firepower on the day, and came out on top. Try scorers were Owen Murphy, Nick Yuan, Eoin Foynes, Dillon Casey and George Reis. Man of the Match Sean Stones converted 5 tries.

The 2nd match had a scintillating offensive display by the New Jerseymen, as they typically demonstrated champagne rugby throughout. Try scorers were their outstanding outhalf, and 3 each by the winger and Man of the Match outside center. The swirling wind wreaked havoc with the kicking game all match long.
Lansdowne Old Boys 36 Morris Old Boys 10
Both of these "Old Boys" teams demonstrated esthetic rugby In a match that was a joy to watch. Morris's 9 John Sutherland linked up beautifully with his back line thereby tormenting the hosts all day. Lansdowne try scorers were Pat Daly, Jarret Murphy, Omehito Jones, Ian O'Connor, Mark Giordano, who converted 3 tries, and Man of the Match Dillon Casey.

The hosts won the tournament as Sean Stones was on fire from the tee. He converted 1 try and kicked 4 penalties. Try scorers were Eamon McCaffrey and Man of the Match Kevin McKenna.

Lansdowne are back on the road this weekend, traveling to Coney Island to take on Brooklyn RFC. McCarthy's men are looking to keep winning after a successful Irish Invitational and a road win in NJ the week prior.
