Broad Coalition Supports Senate Housing Chair Brian Kavanagh for Another Term Representing and Delivering for Lower Manhattan.
New York, NY – Today Senator Brian Kavanagh announced endorsements for his reelection to the New York State Senate from a broad coalition of elected officials and Democratic organizations.
Endorsing Kavanagh are: City Comptroller Brad Lander, US Congressmembers Dan Goldman and Jerry Nadler; Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine; State Senators Brad Hoylman, Iwen Chu, Liz Krueger, Robert Jackson, Roxanne Persaud, José M. Serrano, Cordell Cleare, and Kristen Gonzalez; State Assemblymembers Grace Lee, Deborah Glick, Charles Fall, Harvey Epstein, Alex Bores, and Emily Gallagher; and City Councilmembers Erik Bottcher, Carlina Rivera, Gale Brewer, and Keith Powers.
These endorsements from elected officials follow a string of endorsements from Democratic organizations across Lower Manhattan, including the Coalition for a District Alternative (CODA), Downtown Independent Democrats, Grand Street Democrats, Three Bridges Democratic Club, United Democratic Organization (UDO), Village Independent Democrats, and Village Reform Democratic Club (VRDC), and the citywide 504 Democratic Club, which works to advance the interests of the disability community.
Emily Leng, a spokesperson for the campaign, said, “Senator Kavanagh has been one of the most effective legislators, and dedicated public servants in New York, as evidenced by his overwhelming support among his colleagues, elected officials, and local community organizations. He is running for reelection to continue his fight to protect renters, increase affordable housing, fight climate change and other environmental threats, tackle gun violence, and keep our communities safe. While he’s passed some of the strongest laws in the nation to protect tenants, fight climate change, and protect our communities from gun violence, he knows the work is not done. He will continue delivering for Lower Manhattan and championing impactful legislation in Albany.”
