May 25 was proclaimed Jordanian American Heritage Day in New York by a State Assembly Resolution introduced by Assemblyman Sayegh.
Joined by Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, many elected officials, members of Yonkers large Jordanian-American community and friends, Assemblyman Sayegh led a special Flag Raising event at City Hall.
Assemblyman Sayegh spoke of the many contributions of Jordanian-Americans and the strong diplomatic ties between Jordan and the United States.
The Jordan American Heritage Flag Raising Event was co-sponsored by Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, City Council President Lakisha Collins-Bellamy and City Council Majority Leader Tasha Diaz.
Then, with the Jordanian National Anthem playing, the Pastor of the Good Shepherd Church Fr. Fares Hattar raised the Flag of Jordan over the city to celebrate Jordanian American Heritage and Jordan's 77th Independence Day.
