The company employed to decommission the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant has postponed its planned May release of radioactive wastewater into the Hudson River.
The announcement follows Assemblyman Sayegh's strong condemnation of the May release, also voiced by local and State representatives up and down the Hudson.
“My District representing the City of Yonkers borders the Hudson River and will be negatively impacted if Holtec goes forward with any release of radioactive wastewater. The postponement provides the opportunity to discuss solutions to the Indian Point decommissioning that we can all live with. Meantime, I am proud to be a co-sponsor of legislation to prohibit the discharge of any radiological agent into our State’s waters.”
