As a member of the Assembly Health Committee Assemblyman Sayegh fought for consumer protection and tax dollar savings in the State's Medicaid Prescriptions Program. These changes went into effect April 1. For individuals who receive Medicaid, NYRx opens access to a statewide network of over 5,000 pharmacies - including independent pharmacies like Grassy Sprain Pharmacy in Yonkers. NYRx also cuts out middleman pharmacy management companies saving $410 million dollars yearly, and had threatened the closure of many independent pharmacies in NY.
