Yonkers Insider: Statement from Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano.

 

Dear Friends, An overnight fire claimed the life of one of our residents this week on Bronx River Road. Our Yonkers Firefighters battled it out for hours and worked to get dozens to safety. When it was time to survey the damage, many families were left with having to start over. The kindness and generosity of this City never ceases to amaze me. Upon learning of this devastating fire, our Office of Constituent Services and Office of Emergency Management was immediately on the ground working directly with residents and assisting in securing temporary housing. To our Yonkers residents across the City, so many of you mobilized to help with swift collections of donations. Our Yonkers Police - PAL Community Closet was so inundated, they couldn't accept any more! Thank you all, for defining Yonkers Strong, and please keep all affected by this tragic fire in your prayers this weekend. MIKE SPANO Mayor
