The Assembly budget proposal reviewed at a hearing at the Capitol includes 1 million to study the Foundation Aid and Pre-K funding formula and allow the State Education Department to recommend updates and changes to both formulas. Assemblyman Sayegh has historically called for changes to the formula, and has the solutions to the issues with his legislation A67, A96 & A103. These bills would update the census data from 2000 to 2020, allow for additional funds to repair old schools and make adjustments to the funding formula based on five key factors: Free or Reduced Lunch, English Language Learners, Enrollment Numbers, Special Education & Wealth Ratio (Regional Index).
