The Legislatures proposed Education Budget increases educational funding throughout New York State and includes a proposed $12 million in Bullet Aid for the Yonkers Public Schools.
Additionally, the Plan includes funds to study the Foundation Aid and Pre-K funding formula. Assemblyman Sayegh has advanced legislation to change the funding formulas. His has proposed legislation, Assembly Bills A67, A96 & A103. These bills would update the Census Data used for school aid funding from the 2000 to the most recent 2020 U.S. Census, allow for additional funds to repair old schools and make adjustments to the funding formula based on five key factors: the percentage of Free or Reduced Lunch, English Language Learners, Enrollment Numbers, Special Education Students & Wealth/Regional Index.
