This week, I was proud to present the Hudson River Museum with a New York State Grant for community based programming.
Based in Yonkers, The Hudson River Museum is the largest museum in Westchester County. Opened in 1919, the Museum documents the history of the history, science, and heritage of the region. The Museum also has a large collection of Hudson River School paintings, widely acknowledged as one of the first original forms of American Art.
The grant joins the millions of dollars in funding for community based organizations and institutions I have secured throughout my tenure in office. The funding is also part of a larger effort by the New York State Assembly to support and bolster the arts as a critical component of New York’s post-COVID-19 recovery.
As an educator, a parent, and a lifelong Yonkers resident, I know how important of a fixture the Hudson River Museum is in our community. Thanks to this additional funding from the State of New York, we can help ensure that this organization continues to thrive for the future enjoyment of all Yonkers residents and New Yorkers.
