As a member of the Assembly Racing and Wagering Committee, I took part in a lengthy Joint Assembly-Senate Committee Hearing on the first year of Mobile Sports Gaming in New York State. In this hearing, we learned that revenues have exceeded even the most optimistic estimates when our Committee made amendments to the State's gaming law to allow for these changes. Thanks to this revenue, hundreds of millions of dollars have been added to fund initiatives like education and youth sports statewide. I'm proud to have been part of this process which will responsibly deliver billions in revenue to our State's taxpayers in the years to come.
The Assembly Racing and Wagering Committee staff is evaluating the testimony from a number of witnesses and stakeholders, including operators like Fanduel and Draftkings. Additionally, legislation to reduce the tax rate but add more operators has been introduced. In general, revenue this year has been significant and will serve as a benefit to education funding.
