Yonkers Insider: Yonkers Police Department: First Responders on scene at Mulberry Street fire.

 

01/19/23 Yonkers, NY - Members of the Yonkers Fire Department are presently engaged in fire operations at 21 Mulberry Street, a four-story residential apartment building. Initial calls of fire were reported at approximately 4:20 PM.

Two victims were transported to local area hospitals: a 68-year-old male listed in grave condition; and a 85-year-old female listed in stable condition. Both victims appear to have resided on the fourth floor.

Additional residents of the building have been relocated to the nearby The Westchester School where they are being tended to by members of the Red Cross and City of Yonkers Office of Emergency Management and Constituent Services personnel.

Yonkers Police are assisting with crowd and traffic control and have initiated investigations into the cause of the fire which is unknown at this time. Traffic in the area remains impacted and commuters are advised to plan alternate routes.
