Over 5,800 New Yorkers died from drug overdoses in 2021 and the 2022 toll will also be in the thousands, fueled by the use of opioids. In recent years, the increase has been spurred by a rise in Fentanyl, a cheap and potent synthetic opioid that traffickers are mixing with other illegal drugs to drive addiction and increase their profits; users are often unaware they are taking fentanyl until it is too late. However, if someone suffering from a life-threatening overdose receives naloxone in time, they can be saved.
That is why Assemblyman Sayegh is bringing Narcan Training to a special program at the Grinton I. Will Library on Thursday February 2nd, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 PM. It is open to the public and is sponsored by the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Support (NYOASAS).
