Today, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority - MTA inaugurated on the long awaited Grand Central Madison line! For the first time commuters can take the MTA Metro-North Railroad and transfer onto the MTA LIRR from Grand Central, shortening commute times by over 40 minutes. Gone are the days of traversing Midtown Manhattan to connect between the LIRR and MNR. This project will increase service on the MTA's railroads by over 40% and increase weekly ridership by approximately 150,000 passengers. I commend the MTA and organized labor for completing this project which will connect communities in Westchester and Long Island for years to come.
