FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: #Yonkers Mayor #MikeSpano Will Tell His Story Of Childhood Sexual Abuse

STATEMENT: “This is an important conversation," #MayorSpano said. "The more people who hear these survival stories, the more it will help break the stigma associated with sexual assault and abuse. It was the dirty little secret no one ever wanted to talk about."

PRESS RELEASE: In the early 1990s #Yonkers Assemblyman Mike Spano advocated for passage of Megan's Law. The law, which went into effect in 1996, established requirements for sex offenders to register in #NewYork.

YONKERS: Previously,Mayor Spano has referred to himself as a victim of abuse at a march Yo Digo No Más organized last spring in the city of hills.

YOUTUBE: #MariaTrusa founder of the nonprofit Yo Digo No Más ("I Say No More" in Spanish), interviewed Spano about his experience for her talk show. The episode will air on YouTube on Wednesday, January 18th.

Maria Trusa founded Yo Digo No Más in 2020 also was abuse as a child and is working on a book tentatively titled "A Brave Space."
