Assemblyman Nader Sayegh has been re-elected to the New York State Assembly according to the unofficial results reported by the Westchester County Board of Elections. Assemblyman Sayegh out polled his opponent, Yonkers City Councilman Michael Breen, 53% to 47%, winning by more than 1,600 votes.
In declaring victory at his Election Night Headquarters at Castle Royale in Yonkers, Assemblyman Sayegh acknowledged that crime was a major issue in the race. Sayegh said he was backed solutions to get guns off the streets, provide funding for police, not defunding, and that Yonkers is one of the safest cities in America.
Sayegh thanked his supporters saying, “to all our volunteers, to all our elected officials, to organized labor, the Yonkers community, my campaign staff and my family, thank you very much. I am very grateful to each and every person who took a roll in this.”
Assemblyman Sayegh was first elected to the Assembly in 2018 after a long career in education including serving as a Principal in Yonkers Public Schools, as a member of the Yonkers Board of Education and as Board President.
