Last week, I did a walkthrough of Nodine Hill, accompanied by a DPW team led by Commissioner Tom Meier.
I always find it beneficial to take time to get a firsthand look at the work our city is doing and get a one-on-one with the commissioner to address areas of improvement.
This site visit resulted in some great ideas including a potential pilot program of dog waste stations in selected areas. We also discussed the idea of bringing the street lights in Nodine Hill a few feet lower, or switching to higher wattage lightbulbs, to better the lighting in the area.
Street lights along Elm Street have already been lowered and have higher wattage lightbulbs.
I hope to do a similar walkthrough with the Buildings Department in the near future. I’m grateful for our DPW team who is always willing to collaborate with me for the good of the City of Yonkers.
Best regards,
