The City of Yonkers received numerous complaints from area residents about the mounds of debris dumped along the shoulder and service lanes of the north and southbound lanes of I-87 Major Deegan Expressway at the Yonkers-Bronx border.
The expressway was not only an eyesore for drivers but a threat to the quality of life for area residents. Since the stretch of road where the illegal dumping occurs is maintained by the City of New York, Mayor Spano called upon New York City Mayor Eric Adams to heed the pleas of our local residents to clean up the Deegan.
Great job by both Mayor Spano and Mayor Adams for the collaboration and swift action taken Tuesday to clear up some of the debris.
Now let's work to monitor the trucks illegally parking there and enforce stricter dumping fines to create better quality of life for area residents.
