One of our foundation’s initiatives this year is to combat Period Poverty (yup you heard me right!) 1 in 4 girls in the United States miss school due to the lack of access to feminine hygiene products. Medicaid, private insurance, and other government subsidies do not cover period products. Women and girls cannot control this automatic bodily function and receive no help in managing it.

Today we were able to distribute 200 bags of period products through a grant from United Way of Westchester and Putnam. We were completely out of bags an hour and a half into the event which speaks to the need. We serviced over 100 smiling teenagers who thanked us over and over I want to thank Chandra Sookdeo, Christine Anita Peters and my son Mark for helping pack and distribute these needed bags
