FORMER USMNT STAR TIM HOWARD TO OPEN NEW SOCCER MINI-PITCH IN PARTNERSHIP WITH U.S. SOCCER FOUNDATION, TARGET, AND CITY OF YONKERS.
The event will feature soccer activities on the mini-pitch, music, food, and more.
Former USMNT player Tim Howard, the U.S. Soccer Foundation, Target, and the City of Yonkers will officially open a new mini-pitch at Pelton Park (72 McLean Ave) on September 7th at 3 p.m.
The partners teamed up to transform an under-used space at the park into a brand-new, state-of-the-art mini-pitch.
This project also marks the official launch of the Tim Howard Foundation and builds on more than 100 mini-pitches the U.S. Soccer Foundation and Target have installed together since 2018.
Representatives from the Tim Howard Foundation, the U.S. Soccer Foundation, and the City of Yonkers will host the ribbon cutting ceremony followed by scrimmages on the pitch and a festival featuring other soccer activities, food, music, and more.
To date, the U.S. Soccer Foundation has installed more than 500 mini-pitches nationwide. The goal is to install 1,000 by 2026.
