Eight years ago I met with representatives from St. Joseph’s Medical center and was presented with what would be Landy Court. I took a (long) trip to Brooklyn to see an example of what a supportive housing project would look like in Yonkers. Immediately after seeing the property, I knew how transformative a project like this could be in Yonkers.
Yesterday, I had the honor of attending the ribbon cutting ceremony for the newest affordable and supportive housing development in Yonkers, Landy Court at 10 School Street. Thank you to St. Joseph’s Medical Center and all of its partners that were able to take this project on, in an effort to serve some of our city’s most vulnerable populations, especially those who were formally homeless and those with mental health issues.
The building itself is absolutely beautiful! However, one of my favorite features of the property is a community room that will be accessible to ALL members of the Yonkers community. I am happy to have been able to play a role in bringing this development to Yonkers.
