This year the City of Yonkers will be joining the rest of the country in celebrating our newest federal holiday, Juneteenth, which falls on June 19, 2022. If you scroll down below, you will see the many activities being planned in Yonkers to celebrate Juneteenth, including a Father's Day softball game between the Yonkers Vulcans Society (Black Yonkers Firefighters) and the Yonkers Guardians Association (Black Yonkers Police Officers) on Saturday, June 18th, as well as an Educational Symposium & Youth Day at Trevor Park, also on June 18th.
On Sunday, June 19th, there will be festivities all day (from 10am-7pm) at Trevor Park, including a Unity Worship Service, African Healing Drumming & Dancing, Juneteenth Summer Stage, Spoken Word, Comedy, Children's activities, live performances, and more! Be sure to stop by for a day of celebration!
On Monday, June 20th, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday, City Hall will be closed, there will be no garbage collection and Alternate Side of the Street Parking Regulations will be suspended. However, meters remain in effect. Please note garbage will be collected on a holiday schedule for the remainder of the week, and paper and cardboard recycling will be collected on Thursday June 23rd.
