Yonkers Insider: Statement from New York State Assemblyman Nader Sayegh: Homeowners Property Tax Credit Checks (HPTC).

I voted to send additional property tax relief to homeowners, mailing about 3 million checks this Fall when school taxes were due. However, with inflation impacting family budgets the decision was made to get these additional tax credit checks in the mail now. Over the next month New Yorker homeowners will receive checks. The amount will vary based on your property taxes but statewide they will average $1,000.

For homeowners to qualify:

• You qualified for a 2022 STAR credit or exemption
• You had annual income that was less than or equal to $250,000 for the 2020 income tax year
• Your school tax for the 2022-2023 school year is more than your 2022 STAR benefit.
