FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MOBILE PAPER SHREDDER & E-WASTE RECYCLING SERVICES AVAILABLE TO YONKERS RESIDENTS AT E.J. MURRAY’S SKATING RINK ON SATURDAY, JUNE 18, 10AM-1PM.
YONKERS, NY – June 13, 2022 – Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano today announced the City’s Department of Public Works will provide a mobile paper shredder and e-waste recycling services for Yonkers residents at Murray’s Skating Rink, located at 348 Tuckahoe Road, on Saturday, June 18th from 10AM – 1PM.
“We encourage our residents to take full advantage of this free shredding and e-waste recycling service,” said Mayor Spano. “The more we recycle, the less garbage winds up in our landfills. Recycling can benefit both our community and the environment.”
Mobile Paper Shredder Services
Residents can bring only two file-size (10”x12”x15”) boxes of confidential papers per vehicle to the skating rink for shredding. All large binder clips and covers must be removed from the documents (no 3-ring binders/plastic). Papers from businesses, institutions or commercial enterprises are not acceptable and will be rejected, as well as junk mail or newspapers.
Documents that are suitable for shredding before being thrown away or recycled include:
· Expired credit card statements and receipts
· Old tax returns or any other personal documents containing names, addresses or other identifying information
· Pre-approved credit card applications
· Licenses
E-Waste Recycling Services
E-waste (electronic waste) includes anything with plugs, cords and electronic components.
Common sources of e-waste include:
· Televisions (all sizes)
· Batteries (excludes car batteries)
· Electronic products that store sensitive data or personal information (Items will be shredded)
