STATEMENT ON THE YONKERS CITY COUNCIL PASSING THE BUDGET:
“While no budget is ever perfect, I was proud to support a budget that kept the wallet of the taxpayer in mind. A 1.25% tax rate increase will raise the average homeowner’s bill by $10 per month. Additionally, the City Council was able to provide record aid to the Yonkers Public Schools by giving more funding to the district than was initially requested by the Board of Education and Superintendent of Schools. It has always been a priority for the City Council to give the Yonkers Public Schools the funding they need to give our students every advantage and this is another step in that direction. Creating efficiencies while including additional positions will help ensure that our parks are clean, our roads are maintained and our aging infrastructure gets the attention it requires. This budget continues to provide the services our City residents expect and deserve while keeping any tax increases to a minimum.”
Yonkers City Council Minority Leader Mike Breen 5th District.
