Dear Friend,
This week, I continued my fight for Yonkers -- this time before members of the state legislature – outlining Yonkers' needs and sharing the return on their previous investments into New York’s third-largest city.
While we have accomplished so much, I targeted my advocacy efforts toward:
- Full gaming at Empire City Casino – it’s a win for Yonkers and a win for New York.
- Addressing overcrowding in our schools once and for all. In addition to building the new Justice Sonia Sotomayor Community School, with the State’s support, Yonkers could build an additional two new schools
- Urging the State to support their local governments. Since 2012, Yonkers taxpayers have sent the State $268 million via personal income tax and sales tax above what the State has provided in Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) and education funding. Now is the time to increase AIM funding and revive the partnership between the State and the cities.

Best wishes,
MIKE SPANO
Mayor
