SCHMITT ON NEW YORK STATE REDISTRICTING AND PATHWAY TO VICTORY.
NY-18 rated the most competitive district in New York State.
New Windsor, NY — New York State Assemblyman and candidate for New York’s 18th Congressional District, Colin Schmitt (R-New Windsor), today released the following statement on the release of final gerrymandered redistricting maps by the New York State Legislature. New York’s 18th Congressional District now spans portions of Orange, Dutchess, Putnam, Ulster, and Westchester counties, with a PVI score of just D+1. The new NY-18 has been rated as the most competitive congressional district in New York State and the one most likely to flip from Democrat to GOP control.
Just prior to the release of the newly drawn maps from the Democratic controlled state legislature, Sean Maloney attempted to save himself by submitting one of the most aggressively partisan and outright gerrymandered congressional maps to Albany Democrats. Maloney attempted to redraw his own district but Albany Democrats did not cave in to his wishes. As the NRCC spokeswoman, Samantha Bullock stated, “Sean Patrick Maloney is so unpopular even his own party doesn’t want to help him.”
“In November, we are going to beat Sean Maloney and retire Nancy Pelosi,” said Assemblyman Schmitt. “The newly configured NY-18 is a district we will win — the Hudson Valley is sick and tired of one-party Democratic control in Washington. With Inflation running sky-high, local food store shelves bare, crime spikes and attacks on law enforcement continuing unabated, parental rights being stifled, an unsecure border and new failed national security decisions at every turn — Biden and Sean Maloney continue to show they are not fit to lead.”
“Sean Maloney lied to Hudson Valley voters when he promised to represent us when he was first elected to congress. Since his time in the capitol, he quickly transformed into the most partisan politician in Washington,” Schmitt continued. “Maloney votes with Nancy Pelosi 100% of the time and serves as her Democratic Campaign Committee Chairman — the enforcer for the most radical efforts in Washington to pass Build Back Better, Federalize our National elections, pack the Supreme Court and more. The Hudson Valley deserves a real congressman, not a Democrat Campaign Chairman.”
“Over the last few months before the final district lines were established, my campaign and I raised nearly $600,000, fueled by the support of thousands of New Yorkers,” Schmitt noted. “Already during that time my campaign, powered by local volunteers, successfully ran 49 door-to-door deployments, an on-the-ground field strategy that aided in 94% of candidates we supported winning in November. With final lines established, these efforts will only be amplified. In November the Hudson Valley will have a
new congressman.”
