Working for You
Looking back on my first term, I am so proud of the work that my team and I have done to advocate for you, our constituents.
Vital to the efforts to build back a more fair and healthy Westchester included my advocacy for contracts to non-profits in our district totalling over $330,000 in 2021 and over $400,000 in 2022. We also helped find grants of over $730,000 to help small businesses recover from COVID-19. I also am proud to have added $2 million in innovative capital projects from noise cameras to senior fitness parks and flood mitigation. Delivering creative solutions to our district has been our team’s priority.
One of the areas I am most proud to support is Black maternal health, through contracts with a number of local organizations. As the only woman representing the City of Yonkers on the Board, I put money where it mattered most for moms and their kids. Nurse Family Partnership (shown here) supports first time, low income mothers through their pregnancy to 2 years after birth. Other organizations focused on moms that we supported in 2021 are Bundles of Joy, Childhood Education Center and Birth from the Earth.
I also advocated in 2021 for contracts to install a number of community gardens. Pollinator pathways, which will help increase biodiversity across the County, need native plantings developed in private yards, public spaces and parklands.
