Early Voting and Strengthening Our Voting Rights.
Dear Friends:
Believe me: each election now is important—and so is your vote.
Early voting in this year’s elections runs through Sunday, October 31st. There is no voting on Monday, November 1st. Your early voting poll site may be different from your election day poll site, so click here to check your poll site location.
Also, be sure to postmark your absentee ballot by November 2 or drop it off at any early voting or election day poll site.
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO FLIP YOUR BALLOT AND VOTE YES FOR VOTING RIGHTS!
There are three propositions on the back of the ballot dealing with protecting and increasing our voting rights. I urge you to vote YES on Propositions 1, 3 and 4.
While other states aggressively restrict access to the ballot, New York will send a message to the rest of the country--that everyone’s vote should count, and increasing voting rights strengthens our democracy!
Yes on Proposition 1 puts New Yorkers ahead of politicians during the redistricting process. This will continue the effort to set uniform criteria for drawing political districts.
Yes on Proposition 3 ends voter registration deadlines before elections.
Yes on Proposition 4 guarantees voters the use of an absentee ballot with no excuse needed. Voters will still need to request their absentee ballot but will be able to do so without needless red tape.
Also, vote yes on Proposition 2 to enact a NYS Environmental Rights Amendment to guarantee the right to clean air and water. And vote yes on Proposition 5 to increase the jurisdiction of the NYC Civil Court.
Remember: the five statewide ballot proposals on the back of your ballot will impact our democracy’s future!
FLIP YOUR BALLOT AND VOTE YES ON 1,2, 3, 4 and 5!
Pete Harckham
