City Hall, NY— Tomorrow, Friday, October 8th, The Transportation Committee will be holding a hearing to discuss the TLC’s Medallion Relief Program and supporting the Black Car and Livery Sectors. Many of the taxi drivers who operate in and around the City come from immigrant and working-class communities that were severely impacted by the pandemic. Taxi Medallion owners have been protesting outside City Hall for over 2 weeks, demanding economic justice and an increase in medallion relief support. Additionally, the Committee will be taking a closer look at other taxi sectors. The Black Car and Livery sectors have also suffered much loss during and prior to the pandemic.
Who Will Be There: Ydanis Rodriguez, Council Member, Chairman of the Transportation Committee, and other Council Members, New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission, The Taxi Workers Alliance, advocates, and dozens of medallion owners and taxi drivers.
