YONKERS FIRE DEPARTMENT TO CONDUCT TRENCH RESCUE TRAINING SCHOOL.
Yonkers Fire Department officials will gather Thursday, September 30 at 1:30PM at Cook Field (115 Cook Ave., Yonkers) to run a multi-disciplined rescue training course for active firefighters and supporting units. The 10-day, 80-hour rescue training school will include courses containing ropes, confined spaces, trenches, building collapses, hazmat and concrete extrications.
Training is designed so firefighters can enhance their skills learned at either the fire academy or from on-the-job training. Funding for the training is provided by a federal UASI (Urban Area Security Initiative) grant.
