September 18th, 2021 is National Clean-Up Day! If you’re interested in participating in a clean-up or would like to organize a clean-up of your own either this month or in the future, we have some tips for you this week!

Biking Electrically (and Equitably) Through the Boroughs

Citi Bike provides a sustainable way to travel the Big Apple and pedal-assisted e-bikes offer an accessible option for more people and longer distances. With this in mind, Citi Bike electrification presents an opportunity to promote environmental justice, public health, equity, equality, and reliability for New Yorkers. 

A bill that requires passenger cars and trucks sold in New York be zero emission by 2035 has been signed into law by Gov. Kathy Hochul. The new law also covers zero emission requirements for medium-duty and heavy-duty trucks by 2045. "We need to significantly reduce transportation emissions if we hope to reach our ambitious climate goals, and this is a good step in the right direction," said NYLCV President Julie Tighe in response to the news. (Spectrum News)

What's the short-term government response to deadly weather extremes? Declare a state of emergency and make sure people file insurance claims. Long-term? Congress has proposed a vast, multi-billion-dollar infrastructure plan to make the state more resilient to extreme weather. The middle-term?
