WESTCHESTER COUNTY MARKS HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH.

During Second Week of Hispanic Heritage Month, County Encourages Neighbors to Patronize Businesses and More.

 

(White Plains, NY) – Westchester County Executive George Latimer is encouraging Westchester neighbors to learn and celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. With many festivals cancelled this year due to the pandemic, the County is highlighting local Latino leaders and businesses to showcase  contributions to the Westchester County community.

Latimer said: “Westchester County embraces all cultures and traditions. This month we want to pay tribute to our Latino brothers and sisters who have enriched our County and continue to positively influence generations to come by adding to the growth and diversity of Westchester.”

 

Hispanic Heritage Month began September 15 and ends October 15, celebrating the anniversary of independence for five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.

 

According to the 2020 Census, Hispanic-Americans make up 26.8% of the population of Westchester County.
