One of the best parts about this job is connecting great people to important projects. Today my friend and leader of the Bronxville Rotary Club, Nicola Standard, presented a check to Lucria Ortiz, CEO of the Yonkers Family YMCA for a new chlorine regulator at the pool. Partnering with support for the swim program was @Steven Simpson, President of Rotary Yonkers.
This is one part of a larger initiative to get kids in underserved areas to be competent swimmers when they’re little and learn to be lifeguards as they become teens. Working with Yonkers Councilwoman Shanae V. Williams, Hudson River Riders Chev Dixon, fellow Rotarian David Stern and others, I am proud to be part of the solution. Swimming is a life skill that everyone should learn.
