Many people are relieved that Andrew Cuomo is resigning, myself being one of them. However, this needs to be the first step so we can move on as a state. He does not deserve to just move on and enjoy the millions he made in office out in the Hamptons.
He needs be investigated and held fully accountable for the nursing home deaths along with each sexual assault accusation. The victims and their families need closure and his tone in today’s resignation shows he has no remorse for what he did. I stand with each victim and hope they can start the final healing process today. Their story should be an inspiration for all women.
I hope Kathy Hochul can put NY back on the right track. However, she too should be questioned on what she knew and why she was silent. She is Lieutenant Governor so I find it hard to believe she did not know what was going on in the administration leading up to this. The leadership in the state legislature should also be questioned on why they did not pursue impeachment months ago giving the victims closure much sooner. Many believe they hoped this would have just went away. If it wasn’t for the investigation done by the Attorney General, that would have been the case. Their silence is unacceptable and their statements made this week are nothing but more political smoke to save their reputation.
New York will not survive another 4 years if we keep electing politicians that abuse their power while in office. We are 0-2 on electing Governors the last 15 years since George Pataki left office. We the people must come together and elect the right Governor for the job in 2022. Our future depends on it.
