If you missed yesterday's Recycling Day don't worry. We will plan additional days during the year.
Hundreds of residents participated in our first Recycling day at the Greenburgh DPW garage on Saturday. I was amazed at the response. People were excited about the ability to dump bulk items at the garage. We had different stations for different items --electronics; bicycles; furniture, , tables, etc... Town staff helped residents unload their cars of the items they were getting rid of.
Hats off to Commissioner of Public WorksRich Fon, Deputy Commissioner Brian Simmons, Chelsey Doyle, Joe Capalbo; our sanitation and highway team, Gerard Tenner, Joseph Rodriguez and Nick Reckson for their hard work - making the event an amazing success.
We hope to schedule another recycling day before Thanksgiving. The success of yesterday's recycling day highlights the need to establish a permanent location within the town for a recycling center that could be used daily -similar to what Scarsdale offers its residents.

A thank you letter from a resident...
When you were on a bicycle tour around town for re-election, we had a chat about inconvenience for residents to dump bulk items.
I was very happy to see that the town did schedule a Recycling Day today. I just came back from Town's Recycling Day at the DPW garage. As a town resident, the event gives me an opportunity to clear out bulk items in a quick, safe and convenient way.
Kudos to Town of Greenburgh staff for this well organized event! I was in and out in no time.
I hope that the Town will continue this success story and schedule more Recycling Days in the future.
