Dear Friends and Neighbors,
July 4th is traditionally a day we celebrate freedom - the freedom of our country to chart its own destiny independent from England's rule. The American spirit, will, and determination that won our country's freedom in 1776 has indeed been severely tested over the past 15 months.
But we are a people -- made of so many different cultures and ethnicities -- of grit, of resilience, and of optimism. We have faced national crises and issues that tore our country apart in the past, and have survived intact to forge a better future. So maybe this July 4th, in addition to again enjoying cookouts with family and friends, firework displays and the like, we should reflect with gratitude on our hard won freedoms and remain vigilant in protecting them for generations to come.
Sincerely,
