Here’s what we’re reading this week:
NYLCV joins coalition to protect forests
With the goal of a healthy, resilient, equitable, and just New York City in mind, our partners at The Nature Conservancy organized the Forest for All NYC coalition of nearly 50 organizations and 70 participants, including NYLCV. The group is dedicated to the protection and long-term resilience of NYC’s more than 7 million trees.

2021 State Legislative Session Wraps Up With a Few Environmental Victories
For environmentalists, this session brought some major wins, but unfortunately, the session ended with a lot still to do to fight climate change.
School letting out for summer isn’t the only good news this month for students and staff. They’ll also soon have cleaner drinking water. Advocates celebrated the State Legislature’s unanimous passage of S. 2122-A / A. 160-B by Senator Rivera and Assemblymember Gottfried, a longtime priority of ours that will get more lead out of public school drinking water. Early Voting started this past weekend in New York City and continues through Sunday, June 20. The U.S. House Transportation Committee passed the INVEST in America Act, a $547 billion investment in bridges, mass transit, and rail that is in line with the priorities of the American Jobs Plan. (Mass Transit Magazine)
