Mitchell is a public servant with experience across government, nonprofits, politics, and community activism. He’s worked on the ground in the community to create youth enrichment programs from scratch, make Universal PreK a reality for New York City, and he’s worked for several progressive elected officials. “The more we hear from people within the community, the more we'll be able to find solutions that really matter,” he said about his experience. “I’ve laid down roots in this community, and I’m committed to serving the needs of Mount Vernon and Yonkers and advocating in Albany to deliver results,” said Mitchel of his run for office.
Andrae Mitchell is a first-generation American of Grenadian heritage. He is a government official, nonprofit executive, political staffer, community activist, and a father of two living in Mount Vernon. Mitchell is an alum of Howard University and recently graduated with a Masters in Public Policy from Long Island University. He has worked with the Fresh Fund, The Good Sheperd Project, the New York City Department of Education, and elected officials Bill de Blasio, Letitia James, and Jumaane Williams. He lives with his partner and two children in Mount Vernon, NY.
