All School Buses In NYC Will Be Electric By 2035. What’s Next?

Mayor de Blasio’s recent announcement about a commitment to school bus electrification is a monumental step towards our goal. However, there is still more work to be done in order to ensure that this commitment is upheld by the next mayor and that it is codified into law.

Recap: Advancing Wind & Protecting Wildlife Webinar

Together with Citizens Campaign for the Environment, we recently held an event focused on how offshore wind energy projects can be built without causing any adverse effects on the neighboring wildlife.

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced his Clean Transit for America plan, which would invest $50 billion in zero-emission transit buses, in addition to the proposed $25 bill proposed in President Biden's American Jobs Plan. NYLCV supports the plan, and attended the press conference announcement, because it would combat climate change, reduce emissions, and create green jobs while prioritizing environmental justice communities. The White House unveiled a new plan, America the Beautiful, for conserving 30% of the nation's lands and waters by 2030. Often called 30x30, NYLCV is part of the movement that will address climate change, restore nature, and protect wildlife. (E&E News)

 

Scientists are researching how experimental kelp farms around Long Island may be able to help reduce nitrogen and carbon dioxide water pollution, or even serve as mulch. (Newsday)
