Happy 5 de Mayo! Contrary to common belief, Cinco de Mayo is not Mexican Independence Day, but rather a date to commemorate Mexico's victory against the invading French military. In the United States this holiday celebrates Mexican culture and heritage. Here in the City of Yonkers, we are so proud of our amazing and welcoming Mexican residents who help enrich our community greatly. Head down to District Two and shop locally by visiting the many Mexican owned businesses, including restaurants, grocery stores, hat stores, taxi companies, and so much more!
