Senator Shelley B. Mayer Appoints New Communications Director.
(Port Chester, NY) -- Senator Shelley B. Mayer is pleased to announce the appointment of Emily Lavin as Communications Director of her office.
Senator Shelley B. Mayer said: “I am thrilled to welcome Emily Lavin as my Communications Director. She brings government experience, creative ability and a strong work ethic to my team, and is a great match for our office."
Lavin comes to the Office of New York State Senator Shelley B. Mayer from Westchester County, where she worked as a media and communications manager. At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, she worked closely with County Executive George Latimer to keep residents up to date with the latest information about their community. Additionally, Lavin produced a video series to prepare children for the return of in-person learning and led a social media campaign to promote small businesses during the holiday shopping season.
Prior to her work with the county, she studied Economics and English at Binghamton University, where she graduated from. During this time, she also worked as a reporter for a local television station and interned with the local ice hockey team.
ABOUT SENATOR SHELLEY B. MAYER
Senator Mayer was elected to the New York State Senate to represent the 37th District in Westchester County in an April 2018 Special Election, and she was subsequently re-elected in November 2018 & 2020. The 37th State Senate District includes the Cities of Yonkers, White Plains, Rye and New Rochelle; the Towns of Bedford, Eastchester, Harrison, North Castle, Mamaroneck, and Rye; the Villages of Bronxville, Larchmont, Harrison, Mamaroneck, Port Chester, Rye Brook, and Tuckahoe; and the unincorporated hamlets of Katonah, Bedford Hills, and Armonk.
