Memorial day motorcade this Monday at 10:30 AM starts at DeSanti Plaza Veterans memorial... watch our living history tapes of 150 veterans of World War II on public access TV non stop this Memorial day weekend.
You are invited to our annual memorial day ceremony on Monday, May 31 at 10:30 AM honoring our fallen veterans. There will be a wreath laying ceremony at DeSanti Plaza Veterans memorial beginning at 10:30 AM (across from Hartsdale train station) followed by a motorcade to the 9-11 Memorial; the Greenburgh Police HQ and the Fairview Fire House. Because of COVID concerns we are scheduling a motorcade rather than the traditional parade.
VETERANS LIVING HISTORY
Every Memorial day weekend from Friday to Tuesday morning the town rebroadcasts on public access TV interviews conducted with approximately 150 veterans non stop on optimum channel 76 and Verizon channel 35. Sadly, many of the local heroes who participated in the interviews over the past dozen years have passed away.
It's our hope that students and members of the community will appreciate the significant role our local veterans played in participating in our democracy. Each of the approximately 150 living history stories of Greenburgh veterans is about a half hour long. You can also watch the interviews by clicking on to the greenburgh public access channel (www.greenburghpublicacess.com/veterans-living-history.
If you haven't been interviewed and served in a war and would like to tell your story please advise.
